Cross over Denver

The cross is 393 feet high and 254 feet across, and can be seen from the highway and parts of the city it watches over. It was partially conceived by designer Donald Lee Frees, who also worked on designs for many Olinger buildings, including the Tower of Memories at Crown Hill Cemetery. The cross was first lighted on Easter in 1964.

George Olinger Sr., son of Olinger mortuary founders, John and Emma Olinger, bought Mount Lindo in the 1930s. He later sold it to Francis S. Van Derbur, who was married to George’s daughter, Gwendolyn. Van Derbur originally intended to develop the mountain, but instead he made it into a cemetery in 1963. His father, Francis C. Van Derbur, expressed an interest in being buried on Mount Lindo with the spot being marked by a cross. Francis S. had the famous lighted cross installed on the East side of the mountain so his mother, Pearl, could see it from her home in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood.

Mile High Baseball

At Coors Field they have a row of blue seats that mark an elevation of 5280 feet (1 mile high) It's a clever way of making people (like myself) feel a little more special about the cheap noise-bleed seats they just bought.

Denver School of the Arts - 20 Years

I just finished a logo for DSA to mark it's 20th anniversary.

To help address the school’s immediate needs and strengthen the school's foundation for the future, DSA will mark its 20th year with the “Vision 20/20 Campaign: Celebrating the first 20 years; Creating a foundation for the next 20 years.”  The goal for the current school year is to raise money to establish a marketing/development office, purchase equipment and make capital improvements, create outreach programs to support and increase the diversity of the student body and to provide programmatic supplements.

SALt Coming Soon

SALt will be a gallery that highlights "Christian" art that communicates in a more contemporary and real way. NOT the surup-y, Jesus with a lamb on His lap, wood plaque crap you get in bookstores.
